One last trip..

One last trip ......

So its not very often a friend leaves the UK to start a new life on the other side of the world… some of you may know that fellow Avgeeksassemble member, Smike Buckley, has flown our shores to start a new chapter in the tree surgery profession. So far it seems to be going to plan and I wish him the very best of luck, for sure the average day at base isn’t quite going to be the same…… I digress,

Starting out the last base trip at Lakenheath for a fast jet Friday, we soon got our fill of high speed, high G climb outs from the stalwart F-15s and the new kids on the block from the 495th fighter squadrons F-35A

Once the action had passed by and the adrenaline subsided, our ears had recovered, we then packed up and headed out to find some apaches.

The training areas around the region are well spread out it seems but we took a punt on an area which seemingly intersects a few of these and then just waited to see if we could track some flights.

It wasn’t too long before we took an educated guess and managed to stumble across a footpath leading us close enough for what we hoped for.

For sure this is going to be a day I will not forget in a hurry and still feel very fortunate to be able to catch these fantastic machines in the region…
