A collection of my latest shots and experiences from this fascinating hobby.
So from as far back as I can remember, I have been fascinated with aviation. In a way I was fortunate to be a youngster during the tail end of the Cold War era and home was near to many RAF and USAF bases, the daily flying of f4s, A10s and a variety of other aircraft and helicopters became the norm. My father, a keen aviation enthusiast and number catcher, would have us leaving the house at early o clock to get to a base, a mantra I still obsess over even now many years later. Air fetes at Mildenhall and the local airbases were a summer highlight not only for the variety of planes but those infamous bbqs! Whilst I focused on my chef career, aviation took a bit of a back seat and it wasn’t really until covid reared it’s head
I found I had some time with work closed, to be able to rekindle the love affair with things that fly…. I try and get to Lakenheath and Mildenhall once a month to catch up with the friends I have made in this amazing hobby, all of us drawn to the fence for that fix of noise, adrenaline and the sweet sweet aroma of jet fuel… Socially I am active on most mainstream apps including Instagram and now Vero as well as a member of the Avgeeks-assemble crew. I’m always happy to help anyone new to the hobby who has questions and am often passing the time at the fence chatting away, so if you see me around be sure to say hi.
